It’s the little details that add up to make a wedding beautiful, and I always like to keep an eye out for all the special elements that brides like to incorporate to make their wedding POP! One of my favorite hot trends in the wedding industry is chalkboard art; creating a sign for the seating plan, directing guests to the wedding space, or simply labeling the goodies table — there is nothing that carries a personal touch better then chalkboard designs.

I recently had the pleasure of talking to Aleisha, the founder of Creations by Korga, to get a little more insight on how she can help brides take their wedding to a more personal level.

When did you love for chalkboard designs begin?

I’ve always loved the visual arts and had an appreciation for calligraphy. A few years ago, my cousin and his wife asked me to make some chalkboard signs for their wedding, and I did. I got a lot of compliments on them and really enjoyed making them. From there, Creations by Korga took off!

How do you describe your style?

Personally I love the romantic look of flowing, exaggerated hand lettering. It’s clean, simple, and in style right now. That said, many times couples come to me with a particular look in mind, and I will gladly create that. It’s helpful for me to have pictures of signs or styles that they like to use for inspiration

What do you like most about chalkboard art?

What I love most is how different every project turns out. It’s super fun to take a couple’s vision and then personalize it, by adding a pop of their wedding colours for example. Sometimes couples also ask me to write on chalkboards that they own, mirrors or even take on paper tasks. It’s always fun to try something new! I’m open to doing any hand lettering project.

What is your #1 advice to brides when looking for a custom creation for their wedding?

This one’s easy! “Less is more.” My inventory of chalkboards available to rent include some really detailed, elegant frames. When you keep the amount of information on the sign to a minimum, the beauty of the product as a whole really shines through. For signs that include lots of information, like First Birthday signs for example, my suggestion is to use a simple frame.

Aside from chalkboard art, what is something else you can be found enjoying?

Aside from Creations by Korga, I spend a lot of time on other crafting projects around the house. I’m planning to paint a chalkboard wall in our kitchen this summer! Of course, I also love to spend time with family and friends.
